Tirant Lo Blanc

Tirant Lo Blanc

2016 · concerto for flute and ensemble

Duration: 15'

Tirant Lo Blanc was written for flutist Marie-Helene Breault and Ensemble Contemporain de Montreal. The title references a chivalric romance by Valencian knight Joanot Martorell (published 1490), which influenced Cervantes’ Don Quixote. The romance emphasizes naturalistic, human, and sensual characterizations of love rather than platonic ideals.
