Les trains où vont les choses
2010 · chamber ensemble of 15 players with video 1(picc)-1-2(b,cl) - 1/1-1-1/perc./pno./2-1-1-1
Duration: 8'
Les trains ou vont les choses was composed for le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne in connection with their 10th International Forum for Young Composers, accompanying Nathalie Bujold’s video artwork. The work creates one-to-one relationships between image and music: colors associated with tonal centers, intensity with orchestration and harmonic density, white and black with noise elements and microtonal clusters respectively. Uses extended just intonation on B-flat with sixteen notes per octave. Oboe and bassoon only play during pixilated strobe effects in the video.
