Covers represents a departure in compositional method: the composer selected five songs (by Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Beyonce, Beck, and Bob Dylan), created remixes reimagining them as dream sequences, made detailed transcriptions accounting for timbre and microtonal inflections, orchestrated for thirteen instruments, and freely edited while remaining close to source material.
